Village Home Overlooking Yarker Falls

Enjoy this spacious, light filled home that we built on this historic mill site overlooking the waterfall in Yarker Ontario.

The ground floor kitchen breakfast room gets morning light, an abundance of birds at the feeder, and sometimes a deer at the apple tree.

The study allows for flower garden and waterfall views, while allowing you to watch for friends coming down the lane.

The high ceilinged living area includes a fire place, tv, and a six foot grand piano. The adjacent dining area seats 8 comfortably.

The upstairs large bedroom (queen bed) with private bath includes a Jacuzzi tub. We sleep to the soothing sound of the falls. The second bedroom with queen sized bed has an adjacent full washroom with laundry washer and electric drier.

The open library space has a balcony overlooking the river, and includes a pull out queen sofa bed. The art studio is adjacent.

The finished basement includes a bedroom with art space, a seating /tv room with elliptical trainer and yoga space. A water source heat pump provides central air conditioning and heating.

The property features multiple decks and riverside viewing opportunities, ravine paths past historic mill ruins, and a swimming area at the base of the waterfall (mid-late summer). Two kayaks are available for your use with beautiful paddle opportunities in the area, as close as a 5 minute drive away.

About the location

The house is located in the Hamlet of Yarker in the rural township of Stone Mills.
The Cataraqui trail (part of the trans-Canada trail system), is a 5 minute walk from the house, and there are numerous hiking opportunities in the area. Within walking distance, the village has a very good store including a good selection of wine, beer and spirits. There is a public library, and a biweekly farmers market in the summer months. There are other grocery, restaurant and shopping opportunities in nearby towns and villages.

We are 35 km from historic downtown Kingston, with a large selection of restaurants, galleries, museums, and shops. There is a Via Rail station in Kingston with good connections to Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto. Frontenac Park, with its numerous hiking trails and small lakes is a half hour drive.

It is an hour drive to Prince Edward County with its numerous small towns, Sandbanks Provincial Park, art galleries, and wineries, a 2hr 45m drive to downtown Toronto. 3hr 15 minutes to Montreal, and 2 hours 20 minutes to Ottawa, the nation’s capital.
