Beautifully located 2-bedroom house with estuary and sea views.
I`ve only lived in this house for 6 months, but I`ve absolutely fallen in love with it! It feels very peaceful. It is located in a quiet neighbourhood, up a big hill, with incredible views of the estuary and sea. The neighbours are very friendly (and quiet for anyone sensitive to sound!).
The house is spacious for one or two people, with a separate kitchen, an open-plan living room, a front and back garden, two double bedrooms, and a little study with a fold-down desk.
I`d say the house could accommodate up to six if you had four sharing the two double beds, and if you brought a couple of extra foam mattresses or something similar.
The study has space for a single bed, so if you wanted to bring a transportable children`s or even adult`s bed, then that could also be used as a third bedroom.
WiFi is strong.
The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Because I haven`t lived here that long, it still needs a little more love aesthetically - such as redecoration, shelves, and pictures on the walls. Also, the gardens need more life! To put it in perspective, I am quite a house-proud person and I`m happy here, so I hope you`ll like it too. It is safe, clean, and functional, and it`s a work in progress.
There are no parking restrictions and it`s usually easy to find somewhere to park. There`s a little carpark that`s free for anyone to use close to the house.
About the location
I live in the lovely seaside town of Teignmouth. Teignmouth has a down-to-earth vibe, and it doesn`t get too touristy in the summer compared to other neighbouring coastal towns. There are lots of cafes, some nice restaurants and pubs, and venues to see live music and theatre. Along with the usual high street chains, the town also has some nice independent shops, an `artists` quarter`, a health-food shop, and charity shops. There`s also a community sauna on the seafront. It takes about 20 mins to walk to the centre of Teignmouth from my place.
There`s a big Morrison`s and a small Tesco, both within a ten-minute walk from the house.
You can walk over to Shaldon, on the other side of the estuary, in less than 15 minutes by walking across the bridge. Shaldon has a zoo, pubs and cafes, botanical gardens, and lovely walks along the water, including to a quiet beach. There`s a little passenger ferry that goes between the `back beach` in Teignmouth and Shaldon.
For more culture, events, or shopping, it is very easy to get to Exeter, Newton Abbot, or Totnes. You can take the train to all of these places in half an hour or less, and the train journey either way is beautiful, as in both directions it goes right along the water. It`s worth taking the train just to experience these beautiful views! - Especially the journey to Exeter.
It`s easy getting around without a car if you don`t have one - either walking/bus/train.
From the house, there are lots of nice walks. The South-West coastal path comes through Teignmouth, and either direction will bring stunning views.
There are also various options for paddling and water sports in the area, such as surfing and windsurfing. (Although I don`t have any gear for such things, I`m afraid!).
