Between the national park and the coast

Our home has 3 double bedrooms, all upstairs, along with the main bathroom. There is a double and a twin, plus a master bedroom with ensuite.

Downstairs, there is a spacious lounge, a dining kitchen and a toilet. The kitchen is well equipped, including a dishwasher, with a washer/dryer in the boiler room.

From the kitchen, patio doors lead to a private enclosed area with table and chairs, and a gravelled driveway suitable for a small car. There is a converted outbuilding with a pool table (converts to table tennis) which also provides secure storage for bikes, beach gear, etc..

Guests are welcome to bring a well behaved dog but please note that the outside areas are not fully fenced off.

We have an excellent service for the EE network and are able to stream programmes with no issues (there is no Wifi).

About the location

Our home is about 10 miles from the coast where you can head south from Budle Bay to the villages of Bamburgh, Seahouses, Beadnell and Craster – or head north to Holy Island and Berwick. This is a fantastic coastline to explore with wide expanses of beaches backed by dunes, and plenty of castles. Head inland and we are about 5 miles from Wooler, the gateway to The Cheviots and the Northumberland national park, with miles of tracks and paths to explore. The area is perfect for cycling with a vast network of quiet country lines – there are routes out of the village in all directions.

The village has a shop with a post office (Chatton Village Store) and a pub (The Percy Arms) which serves food. Behind the village hall is a recently installed play area with swings, climbing area and zip line. The area surrounding the village has bronze age cup and ring markings in the rocks, there is an excellent walk to St Cuthbert’s Cave, and our nearest castle is Chillingham – quoted as being the most haunted in Britain. If you enjoy being outdoors, there is plenty to see and do.
