Pink cottage overlooking the solent
A pink terrace cottage. Split levels and two bedrooms (one king bed and one single). Spacious kitchen. Open-plan lounge dining room. Lounge is South facing so wonderful views of the solent as the sun sets. Big bathroom with shower and bath.
With the windows closed though you don`t hear much and its generally not bad. There is also a downstairs toilet that has a washing machine and tumble dryer. We`re in the process of modernising this beautiful old place so the finish is not complete - see photos - and this will be an ongoing project for a few years I suspect. A lovely garden with stairs to the lawn which gets the sun well into the evening at the top in the summer. It`s small and established but we love it. Lots of birds and other wildlife around. We have an attic room with a sofa but it is rammed with belongings at the minute so unavailable for guests to enjoy this year. As aforementioned, our home is perfectly livable and functional - cosy in winter and cool on hot days - but is not immaculate in terms of presentation.
About the location
I have described it as beach / seaside although it overlooks the river and is on the east side of Southampton, close to Hamble and walking distance to Royal Victoria Country Park. Within 2 minutes you can walk to the old Abbey ruins. We strongly recommend taking brunch at Cherrywood in the village - have anything, it is all fabulous! We`re on Victoria Road which runs parallel to the solent and is quite a busy road (depending what you`re used to I suppose).
If you want to be a driving distance to the New Forest or explore this little nook near Southampton then this could be just the place for you.
