Sounds and sights of the sea - Well equipped, art lovers' house overlooking a beautiful beach

We live in a small town called Koroni on the Messenian “finger” of the Peloponnese in Greece. Our house is located approximately 90meters from Zaga beach, a 2km long sandy strip, so pristine that sea turtles (Caretta caretta) lay their eggs there every summer.

The house has been recently renovated/re-designed by us and is filled with art and objects that we have lovingly collected during our many travels. There are three bedrooms, two with a double bed one with a sofa-bed, three bathrooms, one with a bath tub, a well equipped kitchen and a very spacious and airy living area with wonderful views of the sea, Koroni castle and the church of the Virgin Eleistria, patron saint and protector of the town. In addition, there is a basement area and a recently planted garden with young trees, flowers and vegetables that is a home to a semi-domesticated cat and a land tortoise (no care required for either). The house has a new heat-pump system for heating and cooling and in addition the bedrooms and living areas also have ceiling fans.

We have two high speed wifi networks (50-150Mbs downloads) and have had meetings and lectured online without issues.

Our location is ideal whether one is interested in simply lounging on the beach and swimming, enjoying good food (Koroni was honoured by UNESCO as an emblematic community for the Mediterranean Diet and has been described by Forbes as “the epicentre of the Mediterranean Diet”) or exploring the local history and the many nearby archaeological sites including the Ancient Messene and King Nestor`s Palace or further afield Mycenae and Epidaurus Theatre (live performances in summer).

About the location

Koroni is a small, charming town with a long and exciting history. The town nests on the side of a hill, where there are remains of a large Venetian castle. There is a lovely harbour and the main street is lined with restaurants and shops. Kalamata and its International Airport is approximately one hour`s drive (Athens airport is 3.5 hours). Koroni is a great base for exploring the Peloponnese, a mythical region rich in history with its many archaeological sites, gorgeous nature, many excellent wineries and more than 400 beaches; including Voidokilia Beach, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe.
