Cottage on a hill overlooking the River Dee
Our three-bedroom cottage is perched high up on the hill. We have a garden with free-range chickens that live on the mountain. The views are outstanding – we`re often above the clouds with birds of prey hovering at eye height.
The cottage has been renovated throughout. It`s an old building so don`t expect pristine walls – but it is extremely comfortable with a range cooker, boiling water tap, modern smoke alarms and good lighting.
The main bedroom has an ensuite with shower and then there`s a family bathroom for the other two bedrooms upstairs. There`s a fourth room downstairs (typically a playroom) with a sofa bed that could be turned into a fourth bedroom if you needed it.
There is also a downstairs loo off the porch. The house is dog friendly but would prefer dogs to be kept downstairs. We have kept the children`s stair gates to keep muddy dogs out of the sitting room and at the downstairs!
The river below is a short walk and great for swimming. And the hill behind us offers amazing walking, mountain biking and fell running. There`s a shed for storing bikes etc. and parking for three, at a push four, cars. There`s also a BBQ outside and plenty of outdoor seating, parasol etc.

About the location
We live in an incredibly beautiful part of the Dee Valley with no major roads in sight and panoramic views from the garden and the house itself. Llandegla and the Panorama are also a short drive away. The Berwyn mountains are half an hour and Snowdonia national park is about 40 mins by car. Some of the best beaches in Wales are 1 hour 15 mins away – Harlech, Black Rock Sands and Llandanwg. Llangollen has all the amenities – a butcher, bakery, small supermarkets, petrol station, gift shops, a modern art gallery, the Cornmill (a great pub on the river), cafes, restaurants and a wine bar.
