Northern Swedish village house in picturesque location only 9 km from city centre

This is a large 200 sqm house with a garden producing fruit. It consists of main house with 3 bedrooms and self contained granny flat with 1 bedroom, so you could swap for the entire property in summer or let us stay in your second home in summer and come and visit us in winter to stay in the granny flat (comfortable for 2 people). If you are dreading the heatwaves in the south of Europe, the lush, green summertime in Sweden is perfect. The temperatures only occasionally reach 30 degrees and normally hover around 26-28 so you can swim in the nearby lakes or hike without it being too strenuous. Winter visit will let you enjoy real winter with Northern lights and up to a meter of fluffy white snow, reindeer or dogsledding with huskies. The house has views over meadows where horses from nearby stables graze. There are 3 bedrooms (one double, two smaller ones) in the main house, sleeping 4, and double bed in the granny falt. We normally Airbnb the granny flat and have very good reviews. The house has everything that a family might need. It is 20 years old and we have renovated some areas, while others are (in our opinion) a bit dated. The house has all modern amenities, like underfloor heating etc and in winter you can enjoy watching the fire in our wood heater. We have three patios in the garden with furniture where you can enjoy your meals at different times of the day, seeking sun or shade. We are a family of four, with two kids (15 and 10) so kids toys and amenities like a trampoline are included.

About the location

The house is located in a picturesque village just outside the city of Umeå (biggest city in the North of Sweden, with culture, museums, restaurants etc). Even if the city centre is only 9 km away, the feel is that you are in a very rural location, with nearby forests, river, meadows, fields, horse stables and only 6 km to the sea. There are two buses going to the city, we will leave our bikes for you to use if you wish and car swap of our old Mazda is also possible. We normally don't travel during the summer as outside of winter it is the most beautiful time of the year and just stay home and enjoy our surroundings, swimming in the river or lakes, picking blueberries, walking and biking. If you wish, there is lots to see on day trips, such as other beautiful areas for hiking, High Coast with fishing villages and national parks and other attractions.
