Bethesda gem

It’s a classic two-storey center staircase brick colonial with mullion paned windows throughout, built in 1948 and expanded in 2001. Vintage oak floors except for ceramic tile floors in bathrooms and linoleum checkerboard-pattern tiles in kitchen; solar panels on roof.

The west-facing house is flooded with natural light on all sides. It has on the first floor an entry foyer with coat closet, a spacious living room with window seat and working fireplace, a family room with sliding glass doors and professional-level sound system; a large kitchen with granite counters, a food pantry, a large utility closet, a ceramic stovetop and electric oven with exhaust hood, dishwasher and large fridge/freezer; a powder room, and a formal dining room with built-in hutches. There is a screened-in porch ideal for dining during warm weather.

The basement is semi-finished with a utility room (washer, dryer, gas furnace and water heater, air conditioner condenser) and a pool table in the large main room.

On the second floor is a large owner’s bedroom with a king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom; another spacious bedroom with a queen-size bed, a thirf bedroom with a queen-size bed with desk and office chair; and a second full bathroom.

The yard is entirely covered with native plants - no grass to cut! - and large shade trees.

There is a paved driveway that leads to a side entry and that accommodates plug-in vehicles. The house is well-maintained and truly delightful.

About the location

The house is in Bethesda’s Edgemoor neighborhood, one of the most prized locations in the greater Washington, D.C. region. It is replete with stately homes and abundant foliage, and our place sits one house away from a nature -filled walking path. A large supermarket is four short blocks away, and it’s a 15-minute walk to the Metro, the DC area’s subway system. There is a pool and tennis social club with clay courts three blocks away to which access can be arranged. Downtown Bethesda, with many restaurants and shops, is four blocks from the house.
