The famous historical town of St Andrews is 9 miles from Westerlea - it boasts the most famous golf course in the world and its ancient university is now considered to be the most prestigious in Britain. Additionally, it has the largest cathedral in Scotland and has a cinema and theatre. Discovery Point is located 23 miles away in Dundee. There is a regular bus service to Edinburgh, St Andrews, Dundee and Edinburgh airport.

Edinburgh, which is easily accessed by car, bus or train, stages the largest Arts festival in the world during August/early September.
