A rustic retreat in the gorgeous Gower peninsula, Wales

Tucked away down an unmarked track, surrounded by beautiful walks, literally from the door, and close to both beaches and moorland, our home is ideal for nature-lovers. Once a dairy building and stables, the 300 year old cottage was carefully converted to create a spacious yet cosy home with two log burners and an Aga. Happily, we also have superfast broadband!

Full of character, part of the original building was built into the hillside and, with the help of shutters, it remains cool on long hot summer days.

The master is the only upstairs space and has a kingsize bed with an ensuite toilet. There is a double in the second bedroom and a single/day bed plus fold up bed in bedroom 3. The family bathroom has a spacious modern eco shower (no bath). We have a large flag-stoned kitchen/dining room with an electric oven and hob in the ‘island’ and an Aga which keeps the space lovely and warm in the colder months.

There is plenty of seating in the back garden/courtyard, including under cover for sunny days.

There is parking for a couple of cars, under and alongside the carport/wood store.

We have a short-haired black cat who can live outside (she has a hutch) although if you like cats, she would happily come and sit with you for cuddles in the day-time! If our swap is for more than a few days, we might ask you to top up her dried food and water.

There are walks from the front door and within a short drive/walk is the award-winning Britannia Inn, a well-stocked village shop/cafe and a choice of beaches.

We have done over 20 swaps over the years and this was by far our favourite. We loved it so much we were delighted to have the opportunity to buy it earlier this year. Gower has something for everyone and North Gower`s beautiful moors, wildlife and beaches are an extra special find.

Note: we don`t have a large secure lawn and there are a couple of small unfenced ponds making this not a great fit for families with very small children.

About the location

Gower is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where you are spoilt for choice with beaches and walks. Surfers and families love places like Rhossili and Three Cliffs is stunning. Below are some useful links:
