About the location

The Fife coastal path (area also known as East Neuk) is stunning and rustic, and follows the beautiful rugged coastline of the east coast of Scotland. Anstruther is positioned central to the heart of this route and path. It shares the path with many other fishing villages and harbours including Elie, St Monans, Pittenweem, Crail and Kingsbarns, before arriving at St Andrews.

The area is full golf courses which litter the entire coastline. It`s never short of seabreeze and has quite simple beauty and great for walkers or those who enjoy the outdoors. It`s unpretentious and a very grounded wee place.

Anstruther is a 15 minute drive (6 miles) from the historic and famous university and golfing town, St Andrews. It is well connected with a bus service to all the East Neuk villages and beyond, including the cities of Edinburgh and Dundee. It has a variety of shops, restaurants, bars, cafes, a post office, butchers, delicatessen and bakers. The famous Anstruther Fish Bar is a must visit!

The house is in Cellardyke which is a residential area and often has visitors or tourists. It is a five minute walk to Anstruther. Cellardyke has its own harbour and is situated close to the East Neuk coastal path. The Pittenweem Arts Festival runs annually at the start of August, only a couple of miles from Cellardyke.

There is a good sized Co-op supermarket in Anstruther, a few minutes drive or 15 minute walk from the house and lots of local shops at the harbour front less than a 10 minute walk.
