Grade 2 listed Cottage near Hebden Bridge with hot tub.

This rural cottage is nestled amongst other buildings behind Oats Royd Mill which sits high above the Calder Valley, with spectacular views of the beautiful Pennine countryside. Built as a woollen mill in 1847 for Victorian textiles magnate John Murgatroyd, the Oats Royd Mill was operational until the 1980s. Our house was the former dovecote, pigsty`s and ostler`s cottage for the Murgatroyd, who still own land locally.

The house has a lovely large private garden at the rear that is not overlooked with plenty of space for younger children to play and some pleasant private courtyards for al fresco dining. We also have a hot tub which you are welcome to use during your stay.

Plenty of parking is available.

Please look after our chickens during your stay and in return they will lay you plenty of eggs!

About Us: The three of us have lived here on and off for 16 years and two of the three are Yorkshire born and bred! I currently work in York and my children go to school locally in Calderdale. We enjoy the quiet life and being outdoors. Small things excite us, like fresh eggs, cows in the field next to us, wading in rivers and ponds, eating pizzas on a friday night. The boys play a lot of football with local clubs and there is a cricket club within walking distance if you like to watch (and there is a bar).

We all have bikes, which we are happy to share if we haven`t taken them with us, and there is a cross trainer in the shed you are free to use.. crack of dawn, all you hear are the birds and our chickens and your own breathing of course. ;-D There is also some pilates equipment here as I am also a Pilates teacher.

Plenty of space for parking the car (but a slightly bumpy track). Children welcome (there are stairs) and there is lego here and plenty of books as well as picture books if your children are younger.

Note we have done house swaps before for over 5 years pre-lockdown and swapped both in the UK and abroad. We understand how it works and will make sure you have everything you need here so that you can travel as light as you like. (No baby equipment unfortunately expect for a high chair). We are happy to leave food in the oven for when you arrive and will have lots of local info. for you so you can make the most of your stay.
