Stylish cosy apartment, our second home - Lenno, Lake Como

This lovely little apartment is our second home perfect for a couple in what is considered to be one of the world’s most beautiful and romantic areas in Italy, Lake Como, stunning scenery, historic towns and villages yet close to the main cities Como and Milan with all of their attractions, museums, art galleries, theatres and gardens. Lugano, Switzerland is only an hour away.

Our apartment is located within a recently refurbished old villa and has an open plan living room and kitchen with sliding door access to the bedroom. French doors lead out from the living room and bedroom to a spacious sunny south facing balcony. Although there is no direct view of the lake from the balcony which overlooks the rear of another historic villa,it is a quiet private sunny space ideal for eating alfresco,relaxing, reading and enjoying the sun.

The apartment is comfortable attractively furnished with a well equipped kitchen. We have satellite TV with Italian and some English free view channels. A DVD player with a selection of recent movies and WiFi. There is secure parking in front of villa within electronic gates.

Public transport is good in the area and hiring a car is not essential. There is a local bus stop nearby and Lenno is unique in that it has its own little ferry stop which allows you to explore the villages along the lake.

The apartment is on the first floor and the villa has a lift/elevator. The apartment is also located on flat level ground, not a steep slope or mountain side and is only a 5 minute stroll to a little supermarket and 10 minute walk to the Lenno village centre.
Fresh bed linen and towels are of course provided.

We have a Italian friend who will meet you and give you the keys and show you around the apartment.

About the location

Lenno is a select and charming village dating back to Roman times. It is one of the sunniest locations on the lake. It retains it’s local village character with historic village square, the piazza, and a medieval church. The lake front has stunning picture postcard views,a lovely promenade, stately villas, a selection of cafes/restaurants and of course an award winning ice cream parlour. There is a quaint 1920’s style ferry stop at the end of the promenade. The Lenno area has excellent amenities 2 local supermarkets close to the apartment lots of small local cafes and restaurants within walking distance a bike hire shop and a weekly Tuesday morning market. Within walking distance are the famous gardens of the ‘Villa Balbianello’-featured in an early Star War’s movie and a couple of James Bond movies. A few miles down the road is ‘Villa Carlotta’ once home to Napoleon and it is now famous for it’s botanical gardens.

Lake Como Greenway, walking route along the lakeside, is popular for walkers but there are a range of walking or hiking routes from gentle slopes to mountain hikes all within the local area. On the lake itself you can swim, water ski or hire your own boat all nearby.

There are a necklace of historic villages strung out around the lakeside.The small beautiful city of Como is 45 minutes away and the city of Milan can be reached in an hour and half. Lugano, Switzerland, is only an hour away by bus and St Moritz is an hour by car.

There are a lot of events around the lake particularly in the summer months- everything from classical music concerts to firework displays.

There are 3 airports located nearby. Malpensa and Linate in Milan and Bergamo. Car rental is not absolutely essential to reach the apartment provided arrival and departure times are well planned but having a car does provide the opportunity to explore the whole area.
