Hidden 18th century mid-terrace stone cottage - Stroud, Cotswolds

People who have lived in Stroud for many years are unaware of this little terrace of three mill-workers cottages, tucked away in an idyllic situation behind the old mill buildings which now house various interesting businesses such as an Art Glass Studio and Vintage & Industrial Lighting specialists. With lovely neighbours and delightful gardens sloping down to Slad Brook, this is a peaceful haven to come back to after exploring the surrounding countryside.

The open-plan living room/kitchen features a woodburning stove which can be used to supplement the gas central heating. There is a good internet/WiFi service, however I do not have a TV. I have recently had the kitchen completely refurbished. It is well-equipped with an induction hob over an electric oven; a `boiling` tap; microwave/multi-cooker/slow-cooker also available. A large walk-in cupboard houses a capacious fridge-freezer and a washing machine (please note: there is no drier but a clothesline in the garden and an airer with dehumidifier for drying indoors).

Stairs lead up to the first floor with a bright double bedroom and the bathroom next door, which has recently been remodelled with the addition of a 'soaking bath'. There is a step for the less athletic to help get into the bath (I include myself in this!), but anyone with hip/mobility issues may struggle.

A second flight leads up to another sunny bedroom that can be made up as either a single or a double, and a smaller room equipped with a futon sofa that can be used as a daybed or another single. Whilst the bedrooms could accommodate a maximum of four people, the house is small and with just one bathroom I feel that a more comfortable maximum is three.

All the gardens are to the side and in typical Stroud fashion, there are no fences between them - we just treat each other`s space with respect! My garden is in the middle, with a little sun-trap patio above a raised vegetable patch at the top and a `secret` garden at the bottom, created by the planting of screening bushes, providing a great deal of privacy when sitting outside. Chairs and tables are stored in the shed at the top of the garden. Don`t be surprised if you come across deer and badgers in the gardens!
