Lakeside retreat for active or relaxed vacation

Our holiday home is simple but comfortable and located directly on the lake. Views from the lounge, and kitchen look directly over the water with hills in the distance. The front views are over farm land. The views are the outstanding feature of this property with direct access to the water for this reason we do not find it suitable for young children. There are 2 bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower and cloakroom with a second toilet and basin.. There is private parking, wifi and basic cable tv. The second bedroom contains a washer and drier.

About the location

We are located 2 km outside of Carrick -on-Shannon with great food, multiple grocery shops and a centre of recreational boating on the Shannon river. 10 minutes in the opposite direction lies Lough Key Forest Park with groomed walking trails, a zipline adventure and treetop forest walk as well as the ruined ornamental castle in the middle of the lake accessible by rental row boat. The abbey ruins at Boyle can be visited on the way to the west coast and the larger town of Sligo. You can visit Yeats country or walk up Glencar falls. Or you can sit and from the patio or any room in the back of the house contemplate the lake which is ever changing with the light and the weather, feel any stress wash away. Previous exchangers have used the opportunity for writing projects and participation in the local arts community.
