Honley, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire

Our home is a 1960s built dormer bungalow, set on a cul de sac, with lovely views across the Holme Valley from the front of the house. It would be ideal for a family with children and can accommodate a larger group if necessary. The house has been renovated and extended in the past few years and is a modern, spacious and light family home.

We have a through living room running from front to back of the house. At the front is a "grown up" sitting room and at the rear is a playroom/music room. There is a large flat screen TV with a DVD player and a Wii. The kitchen/dining room is also of a good size and the table extends to seat up to 8 people.

We have 3 large bedrooms (2 upstairs and 1 downstairs) one of the upstairs bedrooms has a double bed and the other has a single. The downstairs bedroom has a small double. The 4th bedroom, which is also downstairs, is a single guest room/study with a comfortable futon. For a larger group, we have 2 inflatable mattresses which could be accommodated in the children`s rooms. We have 2 family bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. Both of these have both a bath and a freestanding shower cubicle. The upstairs one has a lovely deep D shaped bath and a large shower cubicle.

The back garden is mostly lawn with a patio running the width of the house and we have a trampoline and slide. Other play equipment is also available in the shed. There is a wooden table with 5 chairs on the patio for eating al fresco and we also have 2 loungers.

About the location

We live in the beautiful Holme Valley (where Last of the Summer Wine was filmed). Our home is ideally placed to explore this wonderful area and will suit fans of the outdoors (the Peak District National Park border is 2 miles away) or those who want to explore cities such as Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield or York, all of which can be reached within an hour. If you like walking or biking, there are fantastic trips to be had right from our front door. There are also opportunities for climbing a short drive away.

Honley is a friendly village with a pretty centre, some good restaurants and excellent local shops. Holmfirth is 3 miles away and is very picturesque with a great selection of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms, gift shops and a weekly farmer`s market. For larger shops, cinema and theatre Huddersfield is 3.5 miles in the other direction.

Other local attractions include the Yorkshire Sculpture Park near Wakefield, Cannon Hall Farm (a great family attraction with plenty of opportunities to get close to the animals and fantastic playgrounds), the Eureka children`s museum in Halifax and Wentworth Castle Gardens near Barnsley.
