Bell Lane House, Minchinhampton

Bell Lane House was added to a much older house about 100 years ago. It is stone built with large sash windows to the front and a smallish garden overlooking the church. It is comfortable with a large sittingroom and woodburner for the winter.

It is smack bang in the centre of a small town. Walking everywhere; Onto 1000 acre "common", to the pub, the shop, 2 cafes, chemist, butchers, fish and chip shop, groceries, library, etc. all within a stroll. Being in the centre of things there is entertainment from the house, school children, dogs, weddings, hikers etc. but close the large wooden gates and peace. No through traffic accept the odd horse and total quiet at night. The best of both worlds. The garden is small and parking for two cars.
We would like to rent or swap for the whole of October somewhere sunny in Europe.

About the location

Minchinhampton is unique. It is a small ancient town built on top of a ridge with wonderful views over the "golden valley", towards the river Severn and close to Stroud. The south west of the Cotswolds (the hilliest section). The 900 acre "common" has free-roaming cattle, horses and sheep in the summer and is interspersed with a golf course! There is also a second highly reputable golf course within 2 miles with 36 holes. Gatcombe Park (the home of princes Anne is nearby, also king Charles at Tetbury). Highgrove ~Garden Visits. Walks are wonderful and small roads are steep.

The town has everything for day to day living and there are supermarkets within 3 miles at Nailsworth. Stroud (3 miles) has a mainline station to London. Stroud has, I believe, the largest farmers market every saturday. There are an abundance of country pubs, walks and history with Bath and BristolCheltenham andGloucester all close.
