Cosy off grid treehouse near Slaithwaite

Off grid treehouse cabin located on the hillside near Slaithwaite in West Yorkshire. The treehouse is 3.5 x 2.5 m. It is south facing and set among the trees. There is a balcony to the south and west. The cabin has a woodburning stove for the colder months. It has a pull out double bed and a small table and 2 folding chairs.

There is an off grid utility shed 2 meters from the cabin. This houses a small kitchen area. It has crockery, glasses, cutlery and simple cooking equipment (including microwave, kettle, toaster, camping fridge and plug in single hotplate) at the other end of the utility shed is a shower and composting (waterless) toilet. The utility has lighting and hotwater (although as it is off grid it is limited).

There is space to park a vehicle. Unfortunately, the treehouse is not suitable for children or animals. We live in one of the houses at Bank Nook about 20m from the cabin.

This is a basic camping cabin in a rural location. It is off- grid and does not have WI-FI. The kitchen and bathroom are basic and clean. Guests will need to bring their own bedding and towels. We have a cat called Shadow and there are chickens free roaming.

The treehouse is also listed and available for rent on AIRBNB.

About the location

We are in the heart of Luddite country. The cabin and utility shed are down a path from Bank Nook, a quiet rural hamlet surrounded by open fields. It is ideal place for walking, cycling or just relaxing. We are within two miles of the local villages of Slaithwaite and Marsden. These have a good selection of cafes, pubs and independent shops. Both have railway stations with good rail links to Huddersfield, Manchester, Leeds and York.

Dark Woods Coffee Roastery and Zapato Brewery are on the canal side which is a 5 minute walk from the cabin. We are three miles from from the National Trust`s Marsden Moor Estate.

The area is criss crossed with footpaths and bridleways. Wild swimming is popular in the nearby Sparth and in local reservoirs. A peaceful base to explore the South Pennines.
