300 year old Cumbrian farmhouse on working farm

Pringle House is a 300 year old farmhouse situated at the centre of 130 acres of farmland in the Eden Valley, Cumbria. The house has been in the family since 1921 and has recently been completely renovated to include central heating, double glazed sash windows and beautiful original sandstone floors. There are two wood burning stoves and an open plan layout on the ground floor.

Upstairs there is a king sized bedroom with ensuite shower room, one large double bedroom, a single bedroom and two smaller rooms (currently an office with a double bed and a music room) plus a family bathroom.

The farmhouse is at the centre of this working farm, which is run by Helen`s parents. They live in a short distance away and will take care of our two dogs during your stay and be a point of contact should you need any help. Helen`s 96 year old Grandmother lives in a static caravan near the house and Rich's Mum lives in one of the barns.

We have lots of space to play and relax outdoors - a garden to the front and woodland area behind the house with a huge trampoline. In the barn next door we have a full size table-tennis table and a dart board- ideal if it's a rainy day.

We have nine pet chickens that you are welcome to care for (this involves letting them out and shutting them in each evening, checking feed and water and collecting eggs) but my parents will do this if you would rather not. We also have a cute hamster who is very easy to care for.

About the location

We are located in the Eden Valley, between the Pennines and the Lake District National Park.

Penrith is our nearest town (15 min drive). It`s a lovely market town, centrally located beside the M6 and A66, with lots of independent shops, cafes and galleries plus several supermarkets.

We are close to the villages of Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket (great walks, pubs and scenery) and within an easy drive of Keswick (25 mins) and fantastic days out in the Lake District. To the north, the historic city of Carlisle is a 25 minute drive and it`s just a short distance further to the Scottish borders.

There are walks from the doorstep along footpaths and quiet country lanes. Our nearest hamlet, Ellonby is half a mile and a little further is Skelton, where our local pub The Dog and Gun serves amazing food and has just been awarded a Michelin star! Upfront Art Gallery and Puppet theatre is just two miles away and has a wonderful vegetarian cafe.
