Our Victorian terraced house is in a quiet residential street in Hammersmith with no through traffic, and it has been completely renovated by us since we moved in 3 years ago, with wooden floors throughout. It's well served by public transport (4 underground lines within 10 minutes walk), so no car is needed (we sold ours 2 years ago).
On our doorstep is Westfield shopping centre, the largest urban mall in Europe, and within 30 minutes all of the attractions in central London are accessible by tube including theatres in the West End and the major art galleries and museums. Close by we also have the museums of South Kensington and the Albert Hall. Holland Park is a 15 minute walk, as is the river Thames and riverside walks.
