Beautiful apartment in the Hague – The Netherlands’ best kept secret!

Our apartment, built in the early 1900s, has its own entrance and is located on the top two floors of a traditional Dutch terrace, in a friendly residential area close to the centre.

On the first floor, we have a large, bright, open plan living area, facing south, with 3 large windows overlooking the tree-lined street at the front. You can relax in the spacious living room, with 2 large comfy sofas and TV, read in the snug, or dine in the area at the rear, overlooking back gardens. Also on this floor is a fully equipped kitchen (including a dishwasher and coffee machine) and small washroom with toilet and basin.

Up the stairs to the top floor, there are two large bedrooms – one with a kingsize bed, one with a standard double, plus a smaller single room, together with a newly modernised family bathroom. Doors from the larger bedroom lead onto a landscaped terrace at the rear.

Unfortunately our home is not suitable for small children or people with mobility issues - being a typically tall Dutch house, the stairs are steep.

About the location

Our apartment is situated in a lovely residential street on the edge of the Duinoord/Statenkwartier area, close to the Suezkade canal and several small shopping areas with cafes and bars. There is a supermarket (Albert Heijn) just five minutes walk away. Also within 5 minutes walk is the tram that takes you in 10 minutes to the centre of the Hague, and the bus/tram that takes you in the other direction to the beach (again within 10 minutes) - 11km of dunes and sea. From the Hague Central Station, you can easily reach Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Leiden and Delft – all within 40 minutes.

The Hague centre itself has many independent retailers, in addition to all the main shops. It’s the home of the amazing Mauritshuis Museum (Girl with a Pearl Earring, the Goldfinch), Escher Museum and the newly opened Amare theatre venue. Within walking distance of our home is the Hague Kunstmuseum, with an extensive modern art collection and frequently rotating temporary exhibitions.
