Comfortable holiday home in the centre of Plomari village (Lesbos)

Centrally located comfortable house with four bedrooms set over three floors: sleeps up to 7 people. The house comprises a twin room and toilet/shower room on the ground floor, an air-conditioned living dining room, fully equipped kitchen and family bathroom with washing machine on the first floor and two double bedrooms, a single room and toilet on the second floor. There is a fan in each bedroom. There is also a good sized veranda where you can enjoy the view of the square as well as the surrounding village.

The house is located on one of the two lively squares in Plomari village, which has a selection of tavernas. It is within 5 minutes walk of the other (bigger) square and main street which offer a good choice of tavernas, cafes and bars, as well as amenities such as supermarket, chemists, banks and various shops. The local beach, Amoudeli, is only 10 minutes walk away.

We particularly recommend visiting between April and October depending on your preference, with April, May, September and October usually being quiet with pleasant weather and June-August being hot and lively.

Each season has its charm. Summer is obviously good for the beach, water sports and going out for meals, cafes and a drink. The population of the village triples with Greeks from Athens returning to their island and some tourists. There are a few bars and nightclubs. The sea promenade is very frequented in the evening, with kids running around playfully and adults eating out. The couple of tavernas on the little square at the bottom of the house fill up in the evenings and even offers live Greek traditional music usually once a week during the summer months.

On the other hand, during spring and autumn, the village is peaceful. You will meet with locals and experience the slow-paced village life. Fewer tavernas and cafes are open. The weather is usually pleasant at that time of the year, especially in spring when nature is lush, green and beautiful. It`s a great time for walks and touring the island if you wish to hire a car. Consider for example visiting the mountain village of Agiassos, which is also a popular pilgrimage site. You may still be able to swim in October; as for April, it`s still early for most Greeks to venture into the sea, but quite a few foreigners will do. So if you are after a quiet and relaxing holiday aiming to do quite a bit of sightseeing, we would recommend that time of the year.

About the location

Plomari is the second largest town of Lesvos, located 40km (a one hour drive) south of Mitilini, the island`s capital and main port. Plomari is a traditional and picturesque village with narrow streets and beautiful houses built amphitheatrically around its pretty harbour. Plomari is particularly well known of its locally produced ouzo. Even in high season, the village is mostly visited by Greeks and has not been affected by mass tourism.
