Fisherman`s cottage - Whitehills

Lovely Grade C listed former fisherman`s cottage located in the coastal village of Whitehills. The cottage has stunning views across the Moray Firth and on a good day you can see the hills in Sutherland. A lovely beach is located meters from the cottage; ideal for bird spotting, looking at rock pools or simply admiring the view. Sometimes we see seals and otters there. The cottage is well appointed with gas central heating and a cozy wood burning stove. There are 2 bedrooms upstairs with one double bed in one room and two single beds in the other bedroom. There is also an additional sun room downstairs which has a pull out bed. Bikes are available; there are some lovely cycle routes nearby.

About the location

The Whitehills area is great for whale and dolphin spotting see: https://www.pressandjournal.co.uk/fp/lifestyle/586462/welcome-scotlands-dolphin-coast/

The Moray Coast is also in the National Geographic Magazine`s top 20 coastline destinations in the world !

It`s also a great area for cycling (on National cycle route #1), walking and running. Between Whitehills and Banff there`s a beautiful long, sandy beach ideal for windsurfing and swimming. Banffshire is steeped in history with many lovely, old fishing villages, including Pennan, best known for its role in Local Hero, famous for an ex-RAF base (WWII) at Boyndie, Duff House in Banff, castles such as the privately owned Delgatie Castle near Turriff and the spectacular Findlater Castle near Sandend which was built into the rock face and now a ruin. Bird spotters will love the area, including the dramatic Gannet colony at Troup Head. If you like fishing there are regular fishing trips from MacDuff and Banff. The nearest distillery is 6 miles away - Glenglassaugh and Whitehills is very close to the Whisky Trail. A short walk from the cottage there`s a lovely fish restaurant (The Galley), a pub/restaurant (Seafield Arms), fish shop (Downies), general store (Premier Store) and a fish and chip shop (Rockfish) as well as a local pottery (Watergaw Ceramics).
