Top-floor flat in detached Victorian villa with spectacular sea views

Our home is in the pretty and atmospheric coastal town of North Berwick, 25 miles to the east of Edinburgh. We're a stone's throw from the beach, and located on the High Street, which has great shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. It's a 7-minute walk to the railway station, with a direct, 35-minute service to central Edinburgh every hour.

We're on the top floor of a detached Victorian villa, with 3 bedrooms. We have a large living room, with amazing sea views; a large kitchen, with a dining table and comfy seating area too; and a bathroom with bath/ shower and loo. The flat is very bright, lit by lots of windows and skylights. We share a large, sunny and private garden with one family in the flat below, though they are only here at weekends for the most part. We also have off-street parking for one car.

We have bunk beds in one bedroom, and will use the second kids' bedroom to tidy toys and stuff out of the way. Our bedroom is at the front of the house, and has the same great views across the beach, out into the Firth of Forth and across to the hills of Fife.

About the location

North Berwick is a Victorian resort town, with two wonderful beaches, 2 golf courses, the Scottish Seabird Centre, a pretty harbour and beautful surrounding countryside. We're only 35 minutes by train from the centre of Edinburgh (off-peak and weekends, 2 kids can travel free on one adult return ticket). Our beaches are amazing, but also stretch up the coast both East and West of here, and there are areas for surfing and kite- and wind-surfing nearby. There is a lot here for kids to do (swimming, sailing, bird-watching, rock-pooling, putting, golf, tennis) and there is a sports centre and swimming pool for rainy days. There is a huge selection of coffee shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants. We even have our own North Berwick Gin, which was the gin of choice at this year's Brit Awards!
