Ecolodge

An eco-friendly retreat in the rural Lincolnshire fens, not far from Wolds and sea. The Ecolodge was built in 2003 from local timber and sits in it's own garden with car parking space off-road.

There is an open plan kitchen/diner/lounge. Two bedrooms contain twin beds in each room. The shower room with toilet is situated off the lounge. The kitchen area includes a Triola wood burning cooking range, an antique working gas cooker and plenty of cutlery, crockery and utensils. The Ecolodge is wind & solar powered and soft, filtered rain water is on tap for washing & showering. Mains water is for cooking and drinking.

The back door leads to an all purpose ramp and the Ecolodge meadow. The front door is on the verandah and this is where we leave wood and kindling to keep the wood burner going. At the front of the Ecolodge but sheltered by mature trees and hedges is a lawn and this is where the bbq is kept for cooking al fresco.
Next to the Ecolodge is the car parking area and off that is the little path to the Privy. From there you can continue on to the playing area and further afield to the pond, meadows and woods.

We have a minimalist approach to utilities that use a lot of energy: so no dishwasher, washing machine, TV etc. There are plenty of books, puzzles, games and lots of fresh air and P & Q. There's also a radio to keep in touch with the outside world unless you have your own wifi. Also, the ART STOP is a converted caravan at the back of the pond where art & craft materials are available.

About the location

This is not a very 'touristy' area. We're rather off the beaten track but we're not completely isolated. The village of Old Leake is 2 miles away where there is a Co-op and a pub .
There is also a small pub up the road 'The Butcher's Arms'
We're are equi-distant from Boston & Spilsby.
Spilsby is a good centre for walking and there are plenty of OS maps in the Ecolodge to help you plan days out walking in the wolds or by the sea.
We think the best sea sides are Gibraltar Point nature reserve and the promenades that stretch from Ingoldmells to Sutton on Sea.
Boston has more facilities, shops, is on the river and has some interesting architectural buildings and local history.
