Phoenix House

We live in the centre of the village, opposite a lovely church, near to 2 pubs. The house is a double fronted semi-detached house about 170 years old. It`s a bit quirky - 2 medium living rooms each with a wood-burning stove, and a central room with another wood-burner. There is oil-fired central heating and hot water to the whole house as well.

The house has 4 double bedrooms - 3 on the first floor with a shared bathroom, the fourth is a very large attic room with ensuite shower and toilet. Accessed via quite a steep staircase.

There`s a light and airy kitchen to the back of the house.

Externally, there is a decent sized garden with a summerhouse with good views . The garden is accessed up two flights of steps to the rear of the house.

Parking is on-road only.

About the location

We live in a beautiful village, on the Towy estuary, 10 minutes walk to the main beach, 20 minutes to quiet and secluded Scott`s Bay. There is also a castle dating from Norman times that is free and open to the public. In the village there are 2 pubs, a shop/cafe as well as a cafe and chip van/ ice cream van.

Our nearest town is Carmarthen, there are several supermarkets there, a cinema and leisure centre open in usual times. Carmarthen is a 15-20 minute drive away.

Nearby, about 30 minute drive, is Laugharne, where you can walk along the Taf estuary, go to several cafes and visit the Boat House, where Dylan Thomas lived and worked.

There are other lovely beaches nearby as well as being able to access beautiful Pembrokeshire, visiting lovely towns such as Tenby, the tiny city of St. David`s with the stunning cathedral, beautiful beaches and visitor attractions such as Folly Farm and Oakwood.

To the north-east are the Western Beacons and Black Mountains, with Llyn-y-Fan Fach - a high lake which has it`s own "lady of the the lake" legend. Near to this is the village of Myddfai which produced generations of "Physicians" - healers. Further north is Llyn Brianne - a lake which provides the headwaters of the River Towy. Nearby is an RSPB reserve with a one hour circular walk around a rocky outcrop containing the cave of Twm Shon Cati - West Wales version of Robin Hood.
