About the location

Monmouth is a beautiful, bustling market town set on the border between England and Wales.
It nestles between two rivers in the breathtaking countryside of the spectacular Wye Valley. You can fish, wild swim and canoe on both of these very clean rivers.

The birth place of King Henry the 5th, Monmouth is surrounded by history. The town has been settled since roman times, (Offas Dyke runs through the town) and there are castles to visit in villages and towns across the area, Raglan, Skenfrith, Clearwell, and Goodrich to name just a few (all within 5 miles).

There are many excellent golf courses near by including the famous 2010 Ryder cup course which is just 20 minutes away.

If you love fine dining, you will be in heaven. We have two Michelin star restaurants on our doorstep and several award winning vineyards in the area.
Ancre Hill vineyard is just a 15 minute pretty stroll along the river and over the hill from our front door.

The wonderful Gower Peninsular is just over an hour away but there are many more beaches much closer to home too.

5 Miles away we have the fabulous Forest of Dean, this ancient woodland is renowned for sheltering hundreds of wild boar, deer, and recently, reintroduced pine martens.
Nearby, Puzzlewood is a local beauty spot, used recently for filming both Harry Potter and Star Wars movies.
Closer to home, here on the edge of town we have the famous Rockfield recording studios, where Queen recorded Bohemian Rhapsody back in the seventies.
Since then Oasis, Coldplay, Black Sabbath and Robert Plant to name just a few have all called it their spiritual home.
This home grown music heritage is proudly proclaimed every year, when in early August the town plays host to the largest free music festival in the UK.

You can reach our exciting capital city within 35 minutes (great for the rugby) and London is about 90 minutes up the motorway.
