About the location

The area is called the Fenouillèdes and is part of Occitanie, which was also called Pyrenees Orientales, and is close by Languedoc-Roussillon. The Agly valley ( the valley of the eagle in Old French) is bordered with limestone hills on which perch the ruins of the famous Cathar Castles. The Agly river flows into the Mediterranean 45 minutes away near Perpignan which has a TGV connection in 1 hour15 minutes to Barcelona. The area has been inhabited for over 350,000 years and is full of prehistoric and more recent Roman and Medieval historical sites.
