Hilltop House - Blairgowrie

Detached Grade B listed Georgian house in Blairgowrie, Perthshire,Scotland .
We would like to welcome you to Hilltop House. which is a fine example of Georgian architecture. The house was originally designed and built for use as a bank by the renowned architect David Rhind in 1837 and is a fine example of Georgian architecture.
In the early eighteen hundreds commercial banking was in its infancy, the young and talented Edinburgh architect, David Rhind was tasked with designing the main headquarters of the Commercial bank of Scotland in Edinburgh. This building with its breathtaking domed ceilings and columns is now known as the Dome.
Hilltop House has a Greek Doric columned entrance and urn-finialled balustrade on the top of the building.
In 1851 this bank closed its doors and moved to the centre of the town.
Much of the original decorative banking features have been removed over time. However, the original concealed walking in safe still exists. The original signage showing the banks working hours can be found in the breakfast room.
The house was then occupied as private residences by several eminent Blairgowrie families amongst those the Lord Provost of the town William Keay.
